MyCon® spectacle lenses – myopia under control

RODENSTOCK MYCON® SPECTACLE LENSES

Reducing myopia with glasses for children

Whether it’s tablets, computers or homework, today’s children focus more on things that are directly in front of them at short distances than on spending time outdoors. This behaviour is leading to an increasing number of children developing myopia – also known as short-sightedness. By 2020, more than one third of the world’s population was short-sighted. This means there has been a sharp increase in just two decades.
Experts at Rodenstock have come up with a solution: Rodenstock MyCon® spectacle lenses. These lenses are precisely designed to correct myopia in children, providing sharp vision and reducing the further progression of short-sightedness*.

MYOPIA CORRECTION

What is behind MyCon® spectacle lenses?

Myopia is usually the result of a slightly elongated eyeball. Standard single-vision spectacle lenses correct myopia, but they are not designed to slow it down. When correcting vision with these lenses, light in the peripheral field is focused behind the retina, which may be a trigger and a reason why, in some children, the eyes grow excessively and myopia worsens.
Rodenstock MyCon® spectacle lenses are manufactured using the proven** HAPD™ technology. This technology not only ensures full correction, meaning sharp vision, but also bends light so that it falls in the periphery in front of the retina, not behind it. This can slow down the elongation of the eye, and thus the progression of myopia.
